Recorded with notable producer Swift in his National Freedom studios in Oregon, The Private World of Paradise finds Wake Owl expanding beyond the evocative folk found on debut EP Wild Country , released in January 2013. 'Candy' exhibits Wake Owl primary member and singer Colyn Cameron's growth as a songwriter and pursuit of experimentation with different instrumentation. Working together with multi-instrumentalist Aiden Briscall and Swift, the result is the upbeat atmospheric vibe found throughout the album.
