The Replacements
All Shook Down LP
'Pleased To Meet Me’ is the fifth studio album by the American rock band The Replacements, was released on Sire in 1987. Their typical hard rocking sound still forms the bulk of the album, but ‘Pleased To Meet Me’ presents a wider range of musical genres in comparison to its predecessors, going from punk rock to soul and cocktail jazz.
Jim Dickinson, Big Star’s ‘3rd’ producer, gives the album a colourful, muscular production, with cranking up guitars and even horns that was unheard of on a Replacements record, but still keeps their essence intact. Pleased To Meet Me was the band’s first album without founding guitarist Bob Stinson won raves for tracks like “Alex Chilton,” “Skyway” and “Can’t Hardly Wait.”
